28-2-2007 IKK-3 Swalmen

First of all I think I never practice better in the way I did now. But still I don’t like the track and layout. But I good driver has to drive everywhere and good so I grabbed myself together and although I didn’t like it I had a race to drive to become Dutch champion 2007. before the race I hoped to get a spot between p1 and p5 and than I would have been satisfied. The qualifying went better than I expected I got p2 before some good track drivers. The first race was kind of boring Kevin den Ouden the number 2 of 2006 was on first place a few meters behind I’m I was driving on p2 and a few meters behind me there was p3. with a lucky lap I even got the fastest lap of the day in the first race so 1 bonus point for me again. The second race was different the p3 was right on my bumper and I had to defend like crazy fortunately I held him back for 20 min until the flag fell. The 3rd race was no different than the second except in the beginning I had 2 people behind me instead of 1. after 13 minutes of racing I made I tiny mistake and p3 passed me, I had not to worry because if I stayed on p3 I would still become 2nd at the end. After defending my p3 against a new talented driver Leon van wijk a driver that drives better every race I managed to get the p3 in that race and assured my p2 in the end. And with the saying it could have been worse if the second race would have gone different but sometimes luck and some good driving is needed. And this second place felt like a victory for me because I don’t like the track and im happy this race is over. (result)(standings)

20-2-2007 IKK2 Eindhoven

Well again a good practice at the track so I was happy with that. I had a good Qualifier with poll position in a kart that didn’t drive that good. The whole field was very close on me. In the race it was even worse the race pace was high and because of a big mistake (all my fault) I let Tim porter pass me. A mistake I will never make again. So I ended up on second place during the first sprint race. In the second race it was no difference I was behind Tim Porter and couldn’t pass him I could only follow ity also had no use to even try it because if I made my move someone behind me would have passed me again so I was content with it. For the third race I needed a lot of luck if I would want to win. I did finish first with the fastest lap. I almost lapped the whole field 6 people were fighting for p2 and I was just behind them when the flag fell. but it was just not good enough to win the day. To bad for me better luck next time. (result)(standings)

Report 11-2-2007 5th place in BIK

The race in Belgium I used as practice for the Dutch championship. They have different types of race in that championship and I have to say this is great for practice. The race consists out of 4 heats you have to drive a good average and fast lap the best 3 results count. I drove in my weight class of 55 KG all drivers were 16 or younger I think. That’s really great because I don’t have a chance in Holland to drive again people with my weight. I didn’t practice for this race but I hoped for a good result. I have to say the 5th place was the maximum I could get that day but I’m not satisfied with it. I know I have to do a lot better than this. But practice makes perfect so next time will go better. I learned a lot that day so I take this with me for the next race.

23-1-2007 Victory at first IKK race.

Nijverdal
Well a new year and new drivers, something that makes me nervous every year again. You never know what the new drivers will do.
We have to drive 1 qualifier and 3 sprint races. All my practice races went very good so I hoped for a good qualifier.
At the end of the qualifier I was surprised to get 2nd place like 0.01 before Nynke v/d Velde but far behind with 0.3 Nicky Hetterschijt a new driver. With that in mind I already thought I would have a hard race today and knew I couldn’t make up for that in the first race so I hoped to get him at the second race. After the start I was surprised to keep up with him and thanks to some problems behind me we could get away from Nynke. I couldn’t pass Nicky but at least I could keep up with him. I even passed him in what we thought was the last lap, unfortunately they track official made a mistake and forgot the flag us so I was stuck with p2 that race. I checked out Nicky’s race lines so I could make a move in the second race to pass him.
In race 2 I already passed Nicky in the second turn and haven’t seen any other driver in that race, with no competition during the race I want for the fastest lap so I can get an extra point. Nicky fell way back in the field and ended up at p19. This made sure I get pole position during the final race. After a fast start I was trying to get ahead of the field. With again some problems behind me Kevin Den Ouden (the numer2 of last year) I closed the gap and we where fighting for p1 in the last race. I had to drive some defensive lines but managed to get p1 in the last race. With that result I managed to win the day. Annemarie Borgers got enough points to get 2nd place and Kevin den Ouden got 3rd. A good start of the year with hopefully more. (result)(standings)
